Bryson Hickman Hustles to $2,000 Red Clay 602 Late Model Series Victory at I-75 Raceway
Ryan DelphThe first points race of the 2026 season for the Schaeffer’s Oil by Mike Bruner Red Clay 602 Late Model Series took place on Thursday night at I-75 Raceway and it was Bryson Hickman emerging victorious to grab the point lead and the $2,000 first place prize money! Bryson laid down the quickest lap overall during the qualifying session to earn the pole position for the 25-lap main event. The Ooltewah, Tennessee native then survived a rash of yellow flags during the headliner to officially lead every feature lap.
Fourth-starting Spencer Cranfield advanced to second during the contest and finished a strong runner-up - 0.923 of a second behind the winning car of Hickman. Outside polesitter Dawson Lowe came home in the third spot, while Davin Cardwell picked up a position to finish fourth at the checkers. Charles Devine streaked past ten competitors during the A-Main to claim a top five finish and hard charger honors.
A total of 22 Red Clay 602 Late Model Series competitors piled into the pit area at the Sweetwater, Tennessee venue for the program, which was headlined by the Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Series. Kyle Courtney went fastest overall during the RaceDay Safety hot lap session, while Bryson Hickman picked up the pace to earn Fast Time honors during Knowles Race Parts and Bodies qualifying. The entire feature field was set solely through time trials and seven Tuxedo Glass & Mirror caution flags slowed the action during the 25-lapper.
Next up for the Schaeffer’s Oil by Mike Bruner Red Clay 602 Late Model Series will be a trip to Laurens County Speedway in Laurens, South Carolina on Saturday evening, April 18. A $2,500 winner’s check will be up for grabs for the 602 Late Model stars. The tour visited Laurens County once last season and Luke Cooper captured the win in the 44th edition of the Shrine Race over Preston Dimsdale, David Smith, Wyatt Coffey, and Jasper Brown.
