Griffin Smith Bags $2,000 for Red Clay 602 Late Model Series Victory at Buckshot Speedway

Eatonton, Georgia youngster Griffin Smith secured the Schaeffer's Oil by Mike Bruner Red Clay 602 Late Model Series victory on Friday night at Buckshot Speedway ! Griffin toured the Clanton, Alabama oval fastest overall during Knowles Race Parts and Bodies, LLC qualifying and later started the 30-lap feature event from the pole position. After an early race battle with outside polesitter Brandon Brown, Griffin officially led each and every circuit to pocket the $2,000 payday.

Finishing behind Smith’s #22 machine at the unfurling of the checkered flag was runner-up Chad Wallace, of Lagrange, Georgia. Series point leader Hunter Atkinson picked off four competitors to round out the podium in third. Braxtin Barber was the highest finishing Alabama driver in fourth, while Brent Cartwright’s #77 machine was the final car inside of the top five.

C & S Auto Electric sponsored a pair of awards on Friday at Buckshot Speedway. Dawson Lowe received the Hard Luck award, while Hunter Atkinson claimed the Hard Charger award. A total of thirteen competitors signed into the pit area to do battle in round three of the Schaeffer’s Oil by Mike Bruner Red Clay 602 Late Model Series.

The barnstorming tour will return to action next Saturday night, April 5 at Sugar Creek Raceway in Blue Ridge, Georgia. A $3,000 winner’s check will be up for grabs next weekend in the Peach State. Hunter Atkinson will bring the series point lead into Sugar Creek, as he currently leads Dawson Lowe by 38 markers and Justin Howard by 54 points.
