Koulten Herbert Wires Red Clay 602 Late Model Series Field at I-75 Raceway for $2,000 Win
Ryan DelphA midweek stop at I-75 Raceway greeted the Schaeffer's Oil by Mike Bruner Red Clay 602 Late Model Series on Tuesday night and Koulten Herbert emerged victorious to claim his first win of the year with the tour! Koulton stopped the clock second fastest in Knowles Race Parts and Bodies, LLC qualifying and later started the 25-lap headliner from the outside of the front row. The Locust Grove, Georgia ace then got the hole shot at the drop of the green flag and paced the field throughout the contest to bag the $2,000 first place prize money.
Finishing in the runner-up spot was fast qualifier and polesitter Bryson Hickman, who trailed Herbert the entire 25 lap distance. Tyler Dixson started third and finished third to round out the podium at the Sweetwater, Tennessee venue. Griffin Smith advanced a spot to finish in the fourth position, while Brennen Shirley picked off a trio of competitors to place fifth at the unfurling of the checkered flag.
A total of 18 Red Clay 602 Late Model Series competitors were on hand at I-75 Raceway on Tuesday for the special event, which was on the undercard of the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series program. Brennen Shirley went quickest in MRP Fantasy League Hot Laps, while Bryson Hickman laid down a quick lap of 15.862 seconds in qualifying to earn Fast Time honors. Only two caution flags slowed the pace during the course of the 25-lapper.
